Christmas is a time for celebration by humans but a harrowing period for some animals, especially he-goats, in certain parts of the country, remarks Kamotho Njenga. It’s this time, he adds, that goats are slaughtered in plenty to enhance merry-making. “Can’t we observe animal rights by going vegetarian this season to spare these hapless goats?” asks Kamotho.
This is from The Nation newspaper in Nairobi. Too bad goats can't read!

Well, now I am getting the hang of this!
The goat season for 2009 is nearly over since I need time to get you a card which you can use as a gift for someone who would just love to have a goat for Christmas - or even someone who would not!
I collect money for the goat project all year long so if you are thinking ahead please keep me in mind for next year.
You can contact me at mariemackay@telus.net
I leave for Kenya December 26th but can be reached there at this same email.

This is a new challenge for me, being technically inept.
As some of you know I have asking for donations of $30 and using the money to buy a goat for an HIV+ woman in Kenya.
The project is going very well and so far I have distributed nearly 300 goats to various groups of positive women.
for 2010 I will have 170 goats to give out!
I will keep you posted with how this goes and hopefully some pictures (if I can figure out how to psot them)
